On Sunday March 25th, The Copper Valley Club held a Meet and Greet for all current and prospective members. It was a great event to kick off the 2018 Season! The next gathering is scheduled for April 14th at Kinsmen Brewery in Southington!

We had two special guests attend: Susan Riordan (USTA Northeast Coordinator) and Greg Lederer (Sports writer Cheshire Herald). CVC will be working closely with the USTA team to expand our presence in the Northeast market as well as improving our Junior Tennis offerings. Wint Filipek and Bruce Levine were both interviewed by Greg for an upcoming article. Wint discussed his Wint Filipek Senior Memorial Tournament to be held at CVC from June 2-10. Bruce introduced the club’s tennis and social events/activities for the upcoming season. Bruce will be up to CVC soon after his tennis season at Muhlenberg College is completed.

Annual Ladies Margarita Night at Copper Valley Swim and Tennis Club

This past Wednesday June 28th was the Annual Ladies Margarita Night with over 21 participants this year! As you can see one person took the festivities very seriously!

There will be another theme Ladies Night to come soon and we thank all who attended this event.

Tennis players and fans enjoyed a fantastic day of sunshine and sport during Championship Sunday of the Filipek Tennis Tournament.

Come on back to Copper Valley next weekend for our Open House! The public is invited.

CVC Open House: Sat., June 17 — tennis, a pool party, food, and a blues band from 2-4 p.m. A special new member discount is available.

The 2017 Filipek Tennis Tournament

Hundreds of tennis players and guests have been enjoying our courts and beautiful grounds during these first few days of the Filipek Tennis Tournament.

The tournament raises money for college scholarships and to support our local communities and has donated over $100,000 during its 11 years.

It’s great to see so many CVC members playing in the tournament, as well as visitors from throughout the state and beyond.

Come out and see some great tennis. The tournament continues through Championship Sunday on June 11.

This week the tennis courts have been lined and now they are currently being rolled! Great job by Wayne Eddy, John Bate, Ian Freeman and Dan Light.

April Cleanup Activities

Ian Freeman and John Bate have been busy cleaning up the club for the season. Lori Mann, Beth Pierpont, Mary Murphy, and Julie Russitano have been hard at work remodeling the Tennis Pro Shop (see the pictures below!)

During the 1st week of May, the Tennis Courts will be conditioned, Clubhouse will be painted and the pools will begin to be filled and pressure tested for leaks! Opening day is getting close!

The September Slam: A Gorgeous Day of Tennis, Laughter, and Costumes

It was a gorgeous day of tennis, laughter, and costumes at this year’s September Slam.

Copper Valley Club was proud to host the Cheshire Junior Women’s Club event, which raises money to be used for scholarships and projects within our community.

Many CVC members, as well as many visitors, enjoyed the beautiful fall weather during the tournament.

And quite a few women did double takes to see identical twins of club pros Jim and Scott walking the grounds, as well as bumblebees, Batman capes, Team USA volleyball players, Irish tutus, tiaras, and Prince tributes.

Championship Sunday at the Filipek, 2016

Championship Sunday at the Filipek Tennis Tournament at Copper Valley Club featured stunning tennis matches, friendly crowds of spectators, and gorgeous weather.

Over the years, the tournament has donated over $130,000 to college scholarships and community organizations. CVC is proud to be a part of this event and host the tournament for the third consecutive year on its clay courts and shady grounds.

CVC President Kevin Murray and Filipek Committee Volunteer Henry Eng compete in the final of the Wint Sr. Doubles Division.

This year, CVC members won two of the championship matches, with Abby Murphy winning Junior Girls Singles and Angela Heidgerd winning Women C Singles.
